Zach Galifianakis lined up for new Muppet movie?

Next month, production begins on a brand new Muppet film that’s been written by Jason Segel (along with Nicholas Stoller), who will also star. He’s going to be joining Amy Adams, Rashida Jones and Chris Cooper in the cast, with James Bobin, of Flight Of The Conchords fame, calling the shots.

And the latest addition to the cast looks like being Zach Galifianakis. He’s in talks to join the film, it’s being reported at Entertainment Weekly, in what looks like being a cameo role. The news was actually revealed by Robert Downey Jr, who’s on the promotional trail for his new comedy, Due Date.

The brand new Muppet film is set for release in the US on December 25th 2011. Here’s hoping that it captures the spirit of what made The Muppets at their peak so great. And once Galifianakis is confirmed, we’ll let you know…
