Question: Count me among those fans not happy about the Barney-Robin split on How I Met Your Mother. Is Barney just going to return to his old womanizing ways? —Gerald
Ausiello: Exec producer Carter Bays insists Barney is a changed man as a result of his short-lived romance with Robin — just don’t expect to notice any of those changes right away. “Barney’s a lot like the economy,” he says. “You can pass a stimulus package, but it will take a while to take effect. But he’s definitely affected by it. It’s definitely changed him.” Any hints as to what those changes will look like? “I probably shouldn’t say,” he hedges. “But in the second half of the season, there will be some events coming up that sort of bring that to light.”
How I Met Your Mother actor (and flagrant nudist) Jason Segel appeared on stage with the Swell Season at L.A.’s Wiltern last night to sing a song we’ll call “315-329-6673,” after the phone number he disseminates in the chorus — and on a handwritten sign toted by Marketa Irglova — in hopes of finding a nice girl to make love to him:

Will Barney and Robin get back together on How I Met Your Mother? Their break-up felt rushed when you consider Barney pined after her for an entire season. —Robin
Ausiello: My crystal ball makes no mention of reconciliation in the near or distant future.
Who’s this Don dude on How I Met Your Mother? Is he going to be a serious love interest for Robin? —Necle
Ausiello:This “Don dude” has a name: Benjamin Koldyke. And yes, it sounds like he’ll be around for a bit. “We’re hoping so,” says Carter Bays. “I don’t want to oversell anything. Yes, it’s very soon after her and Barney [split up], but it’s been a while since there’s been a real, serious… We’ve had characters that Ted has dated many times, but we haven’t brought in somebody for Robin. We’re seeing where it goes. We’re taking it gingerly.”

How I Met Your Mother is currently filming its 100th episode so I’m guessing you have some new news for us. Right? —Jack
Ausiello: Right! Exec producer Carter Bays says the climactic musical number will feature “a big chorus, a kick line, the whole thing. It’s a big celebratory episode.” Everyone in the cast gets a chance to sing, and that includes reluctant crooner Alyson Hannigan. “She didn’t want to sing,” says Carter of Hannigan, who expressed similar reservations prior to shooting Buffy’s musical episode. “But we gave her a little something. She’s got a nice, lilting little voice.” Musical extravaganza aside, Carter says, at its core, the 100th installment is “just a great episode of Mother. That’s what I’m proud of more than anything else. It’s another good episode like the 99 before it.”
Saturday Maroon 5 played a concert at St. John’s University and Jason Segel came out to play a few songs with Adam Levine. It’s early, I haven’t had coffee yet, so my brain is still trying to make sense of this.
“During the intermission between Fitz and the Tantrums and Maroon 5, Adam Levine brought out a special unannounced guest to the stage which really brought the house down. The special guest turned out to be Jason Segel (you might know him from How I Met Your Mother, I Love You Man, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Knocked Up etc.) and Jason ended up playing the piano and singing a couple of songs from his recent movies (he’s actually a very talented musician and a hilarious song writer),” writes Herman Young.
There’s absolutely no way you could expect or plan for something this delish. Anyway, who wants to call the number and see if it’s viral marketing or his actual phone numer? 315-329-6673.
A few months ago we were treated to a mysterious teaser for a new film titled Despicable Me, which had a cornucopia of comedic names attached to it like Steve Carell, Jason Segel, Will Arnett, Kristin Wiig, Russel Brand, and Danny McBride. We’re finally getting a bit more of the puzzle solved as the second trailer for the film has hit the web.
The film focuses on Gru (Carell), the world’s #2 super villain, who is constantly at the throat of #1, his competition and enemy, Vector (Segel). The film takes a few interesting turns, which force Gru to rethink his evil ways.
The film comes from the studio and animation department that brought us Ice Age, Robots, and Horton Hears a Who! and the writing team who brough us Bubble Boy and The Santa Clause 2. Check out the second teaser after the jump, which focuses on the rivalry between Gru and Vector.
JoAnna Garcia to make “How I Met Your Mother” Appearance
JoAnna Garcia has landed a guest spot on How I Met Your Mother as yet another potential conquest of Ted’s, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.
The Privileged alum will play Ted’s college buddy, Maggie, in an upcoming episode called “The Window.” She’s described as the perfect girl next door who every guy wants to marry as soon as he meets her. So sought-after is Maggie that she’s always in a relationship, leaving Ted waiting and waiting for his shot at her. When he hears that she’s finally single, he rushes to her door in hopes that his “window of opportunity” has not lapsed.
Garcia, who has also appeared on Gossip Girl this season, joins Rachel Bilson, Tim Gunn, Chris Elliott and Kenny Rogers as Mother guest stars this season. Garcia is only signed on for one episode.
The nominees for the People’s Choice Awards 2010 have been announced. This year it’s quite exciting because Neil Patrick Harris and Alyson Hannigan have been nominated in the comedic category. Also nominated was “How I Met Your Mother” for best comedic show.
